The sophomore release from Waxahatchee (Katie Crutchfield), Cerulean Salt, came on the scene with more production and a full band which was a departure from American Weekend which has been solo acoustic. Crutchfield’s songs continued to be marked by her sharp, hooky songwriting; her striking voice and lyrics that simultaneously seem hyper-personal yet relentlessly relatable, teetering between endearingly nostaglic and depressingly dark. But whereas before the thematic focus of her songcraft was on break ups and passive-aggressive crushing, this record reflects on her family and Alabama upbringing.
Limited to 300 copies, the VMP exclusive version of Waxahatchee's Cerulean Salt (10th Anniversary), is pressed on Blue in Black A-Side/B-Side at GZ Vinyl. The 1LP will arrive in a single, direct-to-board, foil-stamped and numbered jacket. It was mastered by Kyle Gilbride.
