Caroline Rose returns with Gentling the Horse at the Walt Whitman Mall, the first release on their newly launched independent label, Suck records. Produced by John Congleton, it feels expansive, unguarded, and full of sharp, clear-eyed songwriting.
Across Gentling the Horse at the Walt Whitman Mall, Caroline Rose follows the strange overlap of humor and grief that runs through modern American life. The record balances pointed observations about crumbling capitalist structures with a deeply human hope for connection.
There is beauty and absurdity here in equal measure, with wildness, tenderness, and satire all sharing the same space. Led by Yip Yip Yow, a longtime fan favorite performed live for nearly a decade before its official release, this album opens an exciting new era for Caroline Rose.
